The Problem Isn’t the Problem — The Box Is

Here is what I have been thinking about lately.  I have made tremendous gains in many areas of life.  My confidence is soaring, my fitness is at an all time high, I am attracting people who match my energy and have cultivated their own sense of self awareness and healing, but there is one area that I am still stuck in.

Most people believe they are stuck because of the problem in front of them.  The relationship.  The job.  The fear.  The uncertainty.  The setback.  The circumstance they can’t seem to escape.

But often, the real problem isn’t the problem itself.  The real problem is the box.

When we are emotionally overwhelmed, discouraged, or afraid, our thinking narrows. We begin looking at life from the inside walls of our current reality. Every direction we turn reflects the same limitations, the same fears, and the same stories we’ve been telling ourselves.

From inside the box, all we can see is:

  • Why it won’t work

  • Why we can’t change

  • Why we’re stuck

  • Why nothing feels possible

And yet, one of the most powerful universal principles is the Law of Polarity:  There are always multiple possibilities, perspectives, and solutions available.  Always.

The challenge is that solutions rarely appear from the same level of thinking that created the problem.  Ok, so I paraphrased Einstein, but he is spot on!

The answer exists outside the box.  That’s why powerful coaching questions matter so much. A great coach doesn’t hand someone their answers. Instead, they ask questions that help a person step beyond the limits of their current thinking so the unconscious mind can become resourceful again.

Because once someone begins to see possibility, everything shifts.

What Are Your Possibilities?

What if the thing keeping you stuck isn’t your circumstance… but your perspective?

What possibilities exist that you haven’t allowed yourself to consider yet?  Recently, I realized this was true for some of my fitness and well being goals.  I had limiting beliefs and I couldn’t even realize that is what they were.  They were protecting me from failure, but at the exact same time, they were keeping me stuck in failure.  So I have reached out to my workout partner and accountability partner and I am going to start playing around with trying something new.

So where is it that you are stuck?  What do you want to be different?  What would you do differently if you had:

  • Complete confidence?

  • Full support?

  • More clarity?

  • No fear of failure?

  • Permission to trust yourself?

What if you already had more potential than you realize?

What if the answers you’re searching for are waiting just beyond the limits of the story you’ve been repeating?

How Do We Shift Into Potential?

We begin by asking different questions.  Questions interrupt old patterns.  Questions expand awareness.  Questions create movement.  Questions help us access creativity, intuition, and possibility.

Instead of asking:  “Why is this happening to me?”

Try asking:

  • “What else could this mean?”

  • “What opportunity exists here?”

  • “What haven’t I considered yet?”

  • “Who could I become through this?”

  • “What would my future self do?”

  • “What is possible if I stop focusing only on the problem?”

Your mind is designed to search for answers. The quality of your life often reflects the quality of the questions you ask yourself.

The Truth About Potential

Potential is rarely discovered inside comfort zones.  It’s discovered the moment you become willing to think differently.  To imagine differently.  To believe differently.  The moment you step outside the box, even slightly, new pathways begin to appear.

Not because the world suddenly changed…  but because your perception did.

And perception changes everything.

Call to Action

So today, pause and ask yourself:

What if there is more available to me than I can currently see?

What would I do differently if I truly believed new possibilities existed?

And most importantly…

What box am I ready to step outside of?

I am shifting this week.  I am going to play with actions that I haven’t believed would work up to this point, but these actions will push me out of my comfort zone.  Are you willing to stretch out of your zone of comfort this week?

If you’re ready to shift your perspective, unlock new possibilities, and reconnect with your own inner resourcefulness, coaching can help you see what you cannot see alone.

Sometimes one powerful question can change everything.
